CUAV C-Compass - High-Precision External Magnetometer
Accurate Heading Determination and Maximum Flight Safety
CUAV C-Compass is a digital compass module developed to solve the "Compass Variance" problems frequently encountered in UAV systems. It is designed to be mounted away from the flight controller, next to the GPS antenna or on a special stand, to avoid being affected by magnetic noise originating from the power systems on the drone. Fully compatible with ArduPilot and PX4 autopilot systems, the C-Compass prevents the drone from deviating from its course during autonomous missions.
C-Compass Highlighted Features
-
RM3100 Industrial Sensor: It uses RM3100 magnetic sensor technology, which has much higher resolution and a lower noise ratio compared to sensors used in standard compasses. This provides a much more stable heading performance.
-
Electromagnetic Shielding: Filters out interference caused by metal parts and high-current cables on the drone, transmitting the purest heading data to the flight controller.
-
DroneCAN (UAVCAN) Interface: Transmits data digitally via the CAN bus protocol. This prevents signal loss in long cables, unlike short-distance connections such as I2C, and provides mounting flexibility.
-
Easy Calibration: Thanks to its advanced hardware architecture, the calibration process is much faster and more consistent. Minimizes magnetic offsets.
-
Compact and Lightweight: With a weight of only a few grams, it does not affect the drone's flight time and can be easily integrated into all types of aircraft.

Why Use an External Compass?
Internal compasses within flight controllers (Pixhawk, Nora, V6X, etc.) are easily affected by magnetic fields from power distribution boards (PDBs) or batteries located next to the controller. This can lead to the "Toilet Bowl" effect (flying in circles) or uncontrolled drifting of the drone in autonomous modes. The CUAV C-Compass maximizes flight safety by being mounted away from these interferences.
CUAV C-Compass is an indispensable auxiliary hardware, especially for professional drone users involved in industrial agriculture, mapping, and long-range flights.
